Detroit Youth To Deliver Meals On Wheels This Thanksgiving

DETROIT (WWJ) - Mentoring Youth Network, a local mentoring organization for children in grades K-8, will participate in the national Meals on Wheels event for its third consecutive year on Thursday.

This year, Mentoring Youth Network will be delivering meals to Greenhouse Apartments, located at 17300 Southfield Freeway in Detroit, from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.

For Mentoring Youth Network, this is the first year the organization, founded in February 2009, will be delivering meals to a building. One hot meal and one cold meal will be delivered to senior citizens who are registered for the national "Meals on Wheels" program.

Antoine Weston, president of the Mentoring Youth Network, said this is the perfect opportunity to show children the importance of giving back to the communities in which they live.

The Meals on Wheels Association of America is the nation's oldest and largest organization dedicated to serving the nutritional needs of senior citizens. For more information regarding Meals on Wheels visit www.mowaa.org.
