Retired Cop Involved In Deadly Shooting
Detroit (WWJ)- Detroit police are investigating a deadly shooting that involves a retired cop.
Police say the retired officer shot a young man who forced his way into a home on Coyle Street on the city's westside. Police aren't saying if the retired officer lived in the house.
The break-in and shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. Friday.
The suspected burglar is between 19 and 23 years old. Names have not been released. Police say a preliminary information indicates he was carrying some kind of weapon and was shot several times.
Police say the veteran officer retired a couple years ago. He was questioned by investigators.
It is likely that a report on the incident will be forwarded to the Wayne County Prosecutor who will decide if any criminal charges will be filed.
