WOW Completes Redford Township Construction

MADISON HEIGHTS -- WOW Internet, Cable and Phone announced Wednesday that it has completed installation of its fiber optic cable network in parts of Redford Township.

As a result, the residents and business owners of Redford now have a new choice of Internet, cable and phone providers.

Based locally in Madison Heights, WOW, formerly known as Wide Open West,  obtained a cable franchise for Redford this past fall. Construction began shortly thereafter and WOW planned to connect its first customers beginning Wednesday.

WOW said it had already invested more than $6 million in Redford Township with this expansion, and will continue to invest in the community as its customer base grows.

"The customer demand for our products and customer service is much greater than we expected," said Floyd Armstead, vice president of technical services. "We feel very fortunate to be able to serve the residents of Redford and offer them an additional choice of providers."

Added senior vice president and general manager Mark Dineen: "The welcome we have received from the residents of Redford has been tremendous. I have received notes and emails of appreciation. We're very proud to be a part of Redford."

Early in 2010, WOW announced plans to expand into new communities adjacent to the 42 communities the company has already been serving for over a decade. In addition to Redford, these include the Village of Beverly Hills, and the cities of Birmingham, Grosse Pointe Woods, Harper Woods and Gibraltar, which are complete.

Consistent with its operating philosophy "to deliver an experience that lives up to its name", WOW will communicate with residents of Redford throughout the entire network construction and activation process. These communications provide continuous updates so that residents know what to expect throughout the construction and activation process. More information can be found at www.wowway/comingsoon.com.
