Based locally in Madison Heights, WOW, formerly known as Wide Open West,  obtained a cable franchise for Redford this past fall. Construction began shortly thereafter and WOW planned to connect its first customers beginning Wednesday.

WOW said it had already invested more than $6 million in Redford Township with this expansion, and will continue to invest in the community as its customer base grows.

“The customer demand for our products and customer service is much greater than we expected,” said Floyd Armstead, vice president of technical services. “We feel very fortunate to be able to serve the residents of Redford and offer them an additional choice of providers.”
