Matt Dery's Daily Update 12-9-11

The Lions have depth issues this week at defensive line forcing the team to make a move this morning with Ndamukong Suh suspended and Nick Fairley doubtful for Sunday with the Vikings. Ex Tennessee Titans DT Jovan Haye has been signed to fill in. CB Brandon McDonald is gone, released to make room for Haye. RB Kevin Smith also attempted to practice today but had trouble cutting on that sprained ankle.

The NBA circus is making tons of headlines, first David Stern telling Bloomberg News today that the reason the league nixed the Chris Paul trade is because CP 3's presence in New Orleans is more valuable than the trade. New Orleans, Houston and the Lakers are reportedly set to appeal the commissioner's decision.

The Orlando Magic will file tampering charges against the New Jersey Nets with reports that Nets owner Mikhail Prokorov met with Dwight Howard in Miami recently. Howard has asked the team to trade him to New Jersey.
