Road Worker, Taxi Driver Hurt In I-94 Crash
DETROIT (WWJ) - Two people are hospitalized after a car crashed into a road work truck along I-94 in Allen Park Monday afternoon.
Bill Bantom of the Wayne County Road Commission said three trucks were sweeping I-94 eastbound between Oakwood and Schaefer when one was rear-ended by an airport taxi.
"The truck had to be towed," said Bantom. "It was major impact. Don't know how fast he was going but all indications are he was going pretty fast."
Bantom said one road worker was taken to the hospital with back pain.
"He's in his 30s, he's been working for the county for at least 17 years and he's been taken to Oakwood Hospital for observation," Bantom said.
The Metro Car driver is also hospitalized.
No names have been released.
All lanes of the freeway are now reopened.
