Cedar Point Seeks Summer Staffers

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WWJ) - If you're looking for a job for this summer, Cedar Point is still hiring.

According to Cedar Point Marketing Programs Manager Bryan Edwards, summer jobs at the park come with a lot of perks -- working outdoors, making friends of fellow workers from all over the world, besides being just plain fun.

"Every summer we hire about 4,000 seasonal employees and all ages," Edwards said. "We hire a lot of local students -- 16 and 17-year-olds, even 14 and 15-year-olds, and we do hire a lot of college students from all around the U.S. and really around the world.

"And we also hire a lot of older adults and local senior citizens that are looking for something to do a couple of days a week, a couple hours here and  there," he said.

Edwards said anyone interested in a job should go online to CedarPoint.com/jobs, fill out an application, and someone will get back to you.

Edwards said summer jobs can lead to full-time employment -- he started on the go-kart track.

Edwards said a number of people get a start in their careers at Cedar Point -- including actors, singers and musicians from the performing arts program who have gone on to Hollywood and Broadway; hotel workers who go on to work at large national chains, food service workers in the restaurant business, and even customer service reps, who get their first taste of dealing with the good, and the tough, customer while working at Cedar Point have gone on to bigger and more permanent jobs.

Edwards said, in addition to those positions, there are also internships, operations positions, security jobs and more.

"I always like to joke we're like our own little city here -- any possible job you could think of in the city we have here at Cedar Point," Edwards said.
