MMIC Hosts Talk On Early Stage Investing: The Mid-Michigan Innovation Forum will host a program, "Early Stage Investments: Opportunities and Challenges in Michigan," on Tuesday, April 17 at 11:30 a.m. To register, contact the receptionist at (989) 839-2333, ext. 0. Speaker Mahendra Ransinghani manages the Invest Detroit  First Step Fund, a micro-investment fund that aims to support entrepreneurship in Detroit and Michigan. The First Step Fund has invested in more than 35 Michigan based entrepreneurs since its launch in March 2010. Formerly, as the director of venture capital initiatives for the Michigan Economic Development Corp., Ramsinghani developed strategies for the growth of the venture capital supply chain in Michigan. He led the legislation and development of the two programs which deploy more than $200 million in Michigan as well as MEDC's investment in four new seed stage venture funds. Ramsinghani is the author of "The Business of Venture Capital." Published by John Wiley and Sons, this book covers the spectrum of venture capital fund raising, investments and exit strategies.
