IAS Offers $1M Tech Services Assistance for Michigan Not-For-Profits

ANN ARBOR -- In an effort to assist Michigan based non-profit organizations and corporations, and to accelerate its GreenHost energy savings initiative, Internet Applications & Solutions Inc. announced Thursday it is doubling its previous level of in-kind host, development and IT support assistance to $1 million for 2012.

Using the Merit Virtual Data Center platform, IAS is making virtualized host transition and annual services management available at no cost to qualified Michigan based not-for-profit organizations.

Additionally as part of this program, IAS is offering no-cost transition to virtualized hosting and annual services discounted a minimum of 50 percent off their current service rates for Michigan corporations. Acceptance into the programs is subject to approval and availability and each opportunity will be evaluated individually on its potential positive impact, cost reduction and energy savings.

Arthur Talbot, CEO of IAS explained, "Our mission since we started in 1995 was to aggressively support and assist the Michigan community through available emerging technologies and innovations. The purpose of the direct assistance program for Michigan not-for-profit organizations and corporations is to offset hard costs with in-kind services to help strengthen their Michigan based goals and presence and to assess their present readiness and preparedness for the changing communications world including the rapid shift toward social media and robust mobile application services."

Talbot explained that participants should be able to realize substantial operating efficiencies and be able to direct a greater portion of their resources toward program services and development. With this initial round, IAS is seeking to assist not-for-profit organizations focused on: Community Development, Agriculture, Alternative Energy, Energy Conservation, Events, Arts & Cultural, Youth Services, Transportation and Education.

For Michigan based corporations, the goal of the program is to help direct cost savings and efficiency improvements toward growth, development and reinvestment in Michigan in the fields of Manufacturing, R&D, Medical, Agriculture, Transportation, Alternative Energy and Energy Conservation.

For dedicated hosts, whether in house or colocated, IAS is offering a substantially discounted transition to virtualized hardware. IAS will help determine a proper replacement equivalent in virtualized hosts that will effect improvements in performance, flexibility, reliability and scalability while also maximizing cost and energy savings.
