Police Search For Armed Robber In Dearborn

DEARBORN (WWJ) - A quick-thinking convenience store clerk in Dearborn escaped from two armed robbers Tuesday morning. Now, police are looking for one burglar who got away.

WWJ's Ron Dewey reports a man and woman wearing ski masks walked into the combination 7-Eleven and Citgo gas station on Greenfield near Ford Road in the early morning hours and demanded money.

Police say one of the thieves produced a gun, but didn't fire any shots. The clerk was able to escape and call 911 on a cell phone.

The man allegedly took off while his partner stayed in the store. Police say the woman was trying to crack the store's safe when they arrived.

The woman, who police say is in her early 20s, is now in custody. As for her partner, his whereabouts are unknown.

As investigators were inside the store dusting for finger prints, a police tow-truck pulled away from the scene with a red motor scooter strapped to the back -- presumably the crooks' getaway vehicle.

Police say no one was injured in the incident and nothing was taken from the store.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Dearborn Police Department tip line at 313-943-3012.
