5 Wayne County Sheriff Deputies Charged With Assaulting Inmates

DETROIT (WWJ) - Several Wayne County sheriff deputies have been charged Tuesday with allegedly assaulting inmates.

In some cases, the charges involve multiple alleged assaults of several inmates by deputies within the main jail facility at Clinton and St. Antoine Streets.

In each case, WWJ was told, the alleged victims had to be taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

In all, five deputies are accused of an array of charges, including assault with intent to do great bodily harm, false report of a felony, and aggravated assault.

These charges stem from incidents back in the fall of 2009 and early 2010.
