Royal Oak's First Summer Beer Fest This Weekend

ROYAL OAK (CBS 62) - The First Annual Camp Casey Summer Beer Fest is being held this Saturday, June 23 at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, 316 East 11 Mile Road.

It's the first year of the event that gathers more than 70 local, regional, national and international brews for the public to enjoy in one cool place. Have a favorite Michigan microbrew? It'll probably be there.

This event coincides with a usually busy day at Royal Oak Farmers Market, where farmers and vendors sell everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to organic spices, handmade soaps, artisenal cheese and Amish chicken.

Tickets are on sale for Beer Fest starting at $40 and available online at camp-casey.org or Westborn Market in Berkley. The event is open to people 21 years of age or older (proper ID required). All proceeds benefit the Camp Casey Foundation, so organizers say it's a great opportunity to have fun and drink some beer on a warm Michigan summer day while giving back to a great cause.

"We were the charity recipient of the winter beer fest, held at the Royal Oak Music Theater, this past January and couldn't believe what a huge success it was," said Molly Reeser, executive Director of Camp Casey. "When we were given the opportunity to partner in a larger way for Summer Beer Fest, we jumped at the chance."
