Jerod Barnett’s family and neighbors said the little boy knew he was going to be in trouble for stealing from a nearby store. So when his sister told on him, he ran to the window of the family’s ninth floor apartment at the Young Manor Complex and either jumped or fell out of the window.

Police rushed Barnett to Henry Ford Hospital in a squad car where he was declared dead on arrival.
