Local Brews On Tap At Frankenmuth Event

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - The Michigan Bier Celebration, "A taste of Oktoberfest," will include more than 20  brewers providing samples of their latest beers and ciders.

Local nonprofit Charity Celebration will host the event on from 1 p.m. - 11 p.m July 21  at the Harvey Kern Pavilion in Frankenmuth, with participating brewers from Michigan, California and Colorado.

Proceeds from the festival will benefit charities such as Toys For Tots, Michigan Brewer's guild and Cass River Fund.

"Michigan craft beer lovers will get a sneak peak at more than two dozen 2012 Oktoberfest brews expected to debut in Frankenmuth," said Haithem Sarafa, executive director of Charity Celebration. "Visitors can sample the many different styles of this seasonal brew as well as other beer and cider products, many of which will be introduced into retail stores in early August."

Live music performances will begin at 1 p.m. Admission to the event costs $10 in advance and $12 at the door. VIP tickets also can be purchased for $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
