Startup Has Tech To Help Event Planners

ANN ARBOR -- The startup company Message Blocks has launched with a new, easy-to-use technology platform for event planners.

Message Blocks will be working with Michigan-based events, including Habitat for Humanity's upcoming Affiliates in Motion this October and the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition in November.

A Michigan native, Len Gauger worked as an event and conference planner for the Air National Guard while living in the Washington, D.C. area before returning to Michigan, and is now currently a virtual tenant at Ann Arbor Spark's Central business incubator.

Gauger founded Message Blocks as a Michigan based company, predicting a bright future for event technology within Metro Detroit.

"With the recent plans of expansion for Cobo Hall and the abundant resources and talent right here in Michigan, Metro Detroit is positioned for substantial growth in the events and entertainment industry," said Gauger, founder of Message Blocks. "We want to be first in line to participate by providing the tools to get the job done right."

An application platform designed for conference planners, event planners, and training coordinators, Message Blocks offers a free or low-cost alternative for planners to organize all planning documents in one place, allowing team members to access and coordinate all event information online in real time. Online registration, digital agendas, and real-time reporting help streamline the planning.

"Working with Message Blocks on a registration system for the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition provided Ann Arbor Spark the opportunity to support one of our virtual incubator tenants as well as benefit from the flexibility and functionality offered by the company's product," said Donna Doleman, Ann Arbor Spark vice president, marketing and talent. "Message Blocks provides a simple, easy to use registration system that works well for the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition, and allows Ann Arbor Spark to showcase a start-up company on a large scale."

Message Blocks is receiving startup support through Ann Arbor Spark's business accelerator program. Ann Arbor Spark provides local startups with incubator space, mentoring, and funding. Learn more about Ann Arbor Spark by visiting www.annarborusa.org.
