5-Year-Old Drowns In Pool At Dearborn Hyatt Hotel

DEARBORN (WWJ) - A 5-year-old boy died after being found unresponsive Friday night in a pool at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn.

Dearborn Police say they were called to the hotel just before 9:45 p.m. after the boy was pulled from the pool without a pulse. It's unclear how long he was under water.

A doctor who was at the hotel tried unsuccessfully to revive the boy before he was taken to Henry Ford Hospital-Fairlane -- where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Police say the child, whose name has not been released, had been staying at the hotel with family members. No other details were released.

Reports say the boy is from Harper Woods, and his family was at the hotel to celebrate a someone's birthday.

Officers are investigating the incident, but say it doesn't appear to be suspicious.
