PONTIAC (WWJ) – Oakland County authorities are investigating the death of a Pontiac newborn who may have been accidentally smothered.

Officials with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department said the child’s 76-year-old great-grandmother had custody of the baby at a home on Leonard Lane. Investigators suspect the 25-year-old mother, who was just visiting, had been drinking the night before and fell asleep on the four-week-old infant on the couch.
