Serial Panty Thief On The Loose In Southfield

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Police say someone has been breaking into apartments in Southfield to steal bras and panties.

Police have received four reports of similar thefts, all which occurred at the Hidden Valley Apartment Complex on Shiawassee, near 8 Mile Road just west of Telegraph.

The most recent incident occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27. Police say a woman called to report that her apartment had been broken into and her panty drawer was raided.

The woman told police there was jewelry and other valuables in the bedroom that were left untouched. Police noted, however, that the woman's TV and laptop were missing from the front room.

Police believe the suspect or suspects gained entry to the apartment through the sliding door wall, which was found open when the woman returned home.

According to investigators, this is the fourth similar home invasion incident at the apartment complex, all of which occurred in first floor units. Police say the similarities are common to the other home invasions, including the panty drawers being attacked.

Anyone who may have information on these crimes is asked to contact Southfield police at 248-796-5500.
