Business Owners Moving Shop From Suburbs To Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - More business owners are looking to relocate from the suburbs to Detroit.

WWJ's Vickie Thomas tagged along on a walking tour as real estate representatives showed businesswoman Nancy Crutchfield some downtown locations.

Crutchfield just sold her interest in Cork Wine Pub in Pleasant Ridge and is now looking to set up shop here in the city.

"I think there's a lot of hope and a lot of great, cool things going on down here and I am absolutely interested, yes," she said. "These gentlemen have shown me quite a few places. I've taken some notes here and there's at least three or four spots that look promising."

Real estate representative Kees Janway said more and more business owners are moving from the suburbs to find their hidden gem in the big city.

"We're looking at a variety of things, but we are trying to find architecturally significant sites for a small retail restaurant operation, as well as potentially brand new buildings. Dan Gilbert is bringing in the Z-site and we'd like to look at that, maybe some creative options that don't look like actual restaurants yet but could in the future," he said.
