Parents Charged In Baby's Bathtub Death

FLINT (WWJ/AP) - Authorities have brought murder charges against the parents of a 1-year-old boy who drowned in their bathtub in Flint.

The Genesee County prosecutor's office said that Aden Wise was getting a bath Monday and was left unattended in a tub full of water.

Prosecutor's spokesman John Potbury said Wednesday that the parents returned to find Aden face down in the water, then called authorities.

Potbury said the prosecutor's office charged 19-year-old Callie Csercsa and 29-year-old Jeremy L. Wise with second-degree murder and second-degree child abuse.

Csercsa had iniitally told investigators the boy was in the living room when she put his bath toys and the drain plug in the tub. She told police the water wasn't running when she left the bathroom, and she was distracted by an argument with her boyfriend about a text message she'd received.

The child was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The couple are scheduled for arraignment Thursday in 68th District Court. They didn't have lawyers on record Wednesday.
