Milford Police Think They've Caught Serial Robber

MILFORD (WWJ) - Police think they've caught the person behind dozens of robberies at area gas stations and convenience stores.

Pending official charges from the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, the suspect's name is not being released.

However, Milford Police Chief Tom Lindberg said they have suspect in custody who is believed to be responsible for at least 12 breaking and entering incidents at area commercial businesses throughout southeast Michigan -- including in Auburn Hills, Novi, West Bloomfield and Milford.

"From my understanding, and granted the details are still out there because we do have a number of different jurisdictions, but for the most part it was a gas station, market-type things and other party stores. Now, having said that, it doesn't eliminate other ones, but it seems his pattern was gas stations, party store, and the little market type things," he said.

Lindberg said the suspect was arrested after breaking into a gas station at corner of GM Road and Milford Road.

"He appears to be after the cash. What it looks like is his M.O. is to break a window. He gets into whatever store, and in this case at the Marathon gas station, he took the entire cash register. So, everything appears it was cash that he was going after," he said.

The total amount of robberies and money stolen isn't available yet, as law enforcement agencies in different communities are still putting their case together.
