800 More Job Openings At Ford
DETROIT (WWJ) - Ford Motor Company is hiring.
The automaker plans to add 800 white-collar jobs over the next six months. That's in addition to 2,200 new jobs Ford recently announced.
In a statement out Monday, Ford said the bulk of the available positions are primarily in engineering, IT, product development and manufacturing. They're also hiring in purchasing, finance and other areas.
Ford said the increase in hiring is "a result of the company's need to meet surging customer demand."
Ford isn't saying how many of these jobs will be in Michigan. But, currently, the majority of Ford's salaried employees are located in metro Detroit.
Ford said the company is also adding more than 3,000 hourly manufacturing jobs this year — 1,400 for Flat Rock and 2,000 for Kansas City.Hiring for those positions is complete.
All salaried job openings at Ford are posted on the Ford Careers website at www.careers.ford.com. The company will also use social media, including Facebook and Twitter to recruit the new workers.
