Reports: Flavor Flav's Chicken & Ribs Not Paying Rent, Could Be Evicted

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - The giant clock around rapper Flavor Flav's neck apparently isn't helping him pay the bills on time.

According to reports, Flavor Flav's Chicken & Ribs restaurant on 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights has been hit with eviction papers.

Documents obtained by celebrity gossip website TMZ show that the business hasn't paid rent since the day it opened in December 2012.

The papers show restaurant operators were late in making the $3,500 monthly rent payment in September and October -- and stopped paying altogether after November.

TMZ says the landlord first warned the restaurant about the problem back in January. After continuing to not receive rent payments, the landlord went to court in hopes of getting the business owners to either pay up or get out. Documents show that unless the owners pay $25,000 -- which includes missing rent, late fees and damages -- the restaurant is on the ropes.

TMZ reached out to Flavor Flav about the crisis, and he denied knowing the restaurant was in trouble, saying he's going to "figure out what's going on and get to the bottom of this ASAP!"

This isn't the first of Flav's fast food ventures to go down in flames: Flav's Fried Chicken in Iowa sputtered out in 2011 and an unsuccessful Flavor Flav House of Flavor Take Out Restaurant in Las Vegas closed in 2012.

It's also not the first time Flav has been faced with financial issues. Just last year, the federal government said the rapper owed nearly $1 million in back taxes from 2004-2006.
