Pilot, Passenger Hurt In Mich. Helicopter Crash

GRANT TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a helicopter crash in West Michigan has injured a pilot and a passenger.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Oceana County's Grant Township, about 50 miles northwest of Grand Rapids, according to Mlive.com.

Authorities say the pilot had just stopped to pick up the passenger. The helicopter landed near an intersection, but crashed shortly after taking off again.

The helicopter apparently didn't climb as quickly as expected and the pilot had trouble clearing a line of trees.

The sheriff's department says the pilot and passenger were both transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
