Home Health EMR Vendor Links to Great Lakes Health Information Exchange

EAST LANSING (WWJ) -- Cypress, Calif.-based Healthcare Synergy Inc. has signed an agreement with Great Lakes Health Information Exchange, forging the first partnership of a home health electronic medical record vendor with the Michigan based health information exchange.

The collaboration between Healthcare Synergy and GLHIE allows home health companies to share data with other providers throughout the health care industry, improving transitions of care. It is an especially important alliance as the need for home health care continues to grow.

Healthcare Synergy's Healthcare Assistant Software will seamlessly integrate with GLHIE to facilitate patient data exchange for home health, private duty nursing, outpatient therapy and hospice participants.

GLHIE will send patient diagnostic data, consultative reports, hospital admissions and discharge summaries to authorized home health agencies through the Healthcare Synergy EMR. The delivery of this data will eliminate duplication of treatments and offer better administrative efficiencies to the provider.

Healthcare Synergy has been an active player in the home health software industry for more than 20 years. Planned for release in the last quarter of 2013, its new EMR system combines their billing and case management services with a new integrated clinical module for a variety of home health uses, including private duty nursing, hospice, outpatient therapy, Medicare/Medicaid, MSP and Part B billing.

The Great Lakes Health Information Exchange is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the speed and quality of healthcare to the community by facilitating the authorized and secure electronic access and retrieval of critical clinical data to healthcare providers. By leveraging public and private community resources, the healthcare system improves through collaborative innovation and fosters an environment of connectivity between the patient and the healthcare team.
