Luxury Retailer Neiman Marcus Admits To Breach In Customer Credit Card Information
DETROIT (WWJ) - Just days after it was reported that retail giant Target Corp's massive consumer data breach is even larger than expected, another major retailer has had its databases hacked.
Luxury retailer Neiman Marcus says thieves stole some of its customers' payment card information and made unauthorized charges over the holiday season. It's the second cyber attack in recent weeks. The attack on Target exposed the personal data of up to 110 million of its customers.
Scott Lewis, a private investigator in Detroit, says he sees more coming.
"This thing just keeps getting bigger by the day and it's a little bit frightening," said Lewis. "It tells me that these retailers need to tighten up their security procedures - the problem is that is very expensive and I don't know whether they are going to be willing to do it."
He says until these companies make that investment - we're going to see more of these types of security breaches.
Lewis says make sure to check your credit card and banking accounts daily.
