"Bridging The Gaps Of Life" Event On Saturday

DETROIT (WWJ) - Being a caregiver for a sick or elderly loved one can be tough, but this weekend, you can get some help and advice.

The Detroit Medical Center is hosting a free event Saturday called "Bridging the Gaps of Life."

Dr. Patricia Wilkerson Uddyback with Harper Hutzel Hospital says it's a way to get advice and support before you really need it.

"Doing it when you're in your clear mind and you can make decisions. So, when the time comes that maybe you are getting ready to die, your family isn't burdened with making the decision for you without all the information that they may need to have," Uddyback said.

The event also features help with the Affordable Care Act, and free health screenings. It takes place Saturday, Feb. 1, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Second Ebenezer Church in Detroit.

It's free, but registration is recommended.
