Skull Found In Warren Apartment Complex Dumpster

WARREN (WWJ) - Police in Warren are investigating after a human skull was found in a dumpster.

A female tenant at the Warren Manor Apartment complex on Dequindre near 8 Mile Road was searching for returnable cans when she made the grisly discovery.

Police Commissioner Jere Green told WWJ Newsradio 950's Chrystal Knight that, along with the skull, a doctor's lab coat and I.D. tag, and some paperwork from a local hospital was found.

It was not immediately clear if, or how, those items might be connected to the remains.

"Other than that, there's really no evidence or anything to steer us in any direction," said Green. "I mean, we found a human skull and we're concerned, and we're trying to trace the origin and identify who that might be, if we can."

Green said they don't know if foul play was involved.

"There's possibilities that this could be some kind of educational or training thing that was thrown away; this could be the victim of foul play. We have to take a good look into it," said Green. "Obviously, we're concerned when you find a human skull in a dumpster."

Results of DNA testing are expected in about 30 days.
