Retiring? DIFS Workshop Can Help You Prepare Yourself For The Next Steps

DETROIT (WWJ) -- If you're nearing retirement, here are some options to help you get ready -- one of nine workshops about preparing for retirement that are being held all over Michigan on Monday, one in Detroit.

Lisa Ross with the state Department of Insurance and Financial Services said the workshops will have advice on pensions, and investment and will also feature a resource fair.

"Maybe someone has questions in regards to housing, maybe they're at risk of foreclosure, or want to do a home loan modification and they need some information on those subject areas," Ross said.

Ross said that Governor Rick Snyder had urged financial experts to develop a resource guide and they have.

"We put this package together and we , we're having this, these events scheduled throughout the state because we want to unveil this resource guide and to provide it to the consumers that will be attending these events," Ross said.

Ross recommends registering for one of the workshops Monday, but says it's not required to attend. Workshops will also be held in Troy, Alpena, Escanaba, Grand Rapids, St. Joseph, Kalamazoo, Three Rivers and West Branch.
