Obama To Speak At Wayne State On Saturday; FREE Tickets Available Wednesday

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The Michigan Democratic party says President Barack Obama will campaign in Detroit on Saturday for U.S. Senate candidate Gary Peters and gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer.

Obama will speak around 7 p.m. at a campaign event at Wayne State University's Matthaei Physical Education Center. The rally begins about an hour earlier.

Free tickets will be available starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Democratic offices in southeastern Michigan:

  • Ann Arbor: 3810 Packard Rd., Suite 230

  • Pontiac: 4 N. Saginaw, 2nd Floor

The president is campaigning in Michigan and five other states in the week before the election. The others are Wisconsin, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

Many Democratic candidates have been distancing themselves from Obama, whose popularity has fallen in recent months.
