It is one thing for the Lions fans and some in the local media to start thinking ahead to the post season, but is it a good sign when someone in the national spotlight feels the same way. Former NFL quarterback and current co-host of the NFL Today on CBS’ Boomer Esiason is on board the Lions playoff train.

Mike “Stoney” Stone asked Esiason if the Lions are a playoff team and he said “they are for two reasons,rush defense and pass defense and as you know defense wine championships.” He also thinks the Lions are one of the best stories in the league but it gets dwarfed unfortunately by Dallas and Arizona.

Esiason also gives an honest assessment on Matthew Stafford and why he has some accuracy issues. He believes it all comes down to fundamentals and basically says Stafford needs to improve those fundamentals if he ever wants to compare to the Brady’s and Manning’s.
