I’ve always wondered what would happen if there was a breakaway in a hockey game and the goalie just decided to dislodge the net to prevent the goal.

I now finally have my answer thanks to David Leggio of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers from the AHL.

Leggio faced a 2-0 breakaway and that’s when he decided to dislodge the net against the Springfield Falcons.

The penalty for dislodging the net really isn’t bad at all, it forced the Falcons to have a penalty shot, which Leggio stopped.

Leggio’s strategy worked… I know it’s poor sportsmanship but it’s a brilliant idea. Why face a 2-0 when you can face just one guy.
