Fliers Can Jam Away On Southwest Flights With Free Beats Music Streaming Service

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Travelers flying Southwest Airlines this holiday season - and beyond - will be able music access Beats Music streaming services during flights on select WiFi enabled aircraft.

Beats Music curators selected a wide-range songs from genres including pop, rock and country to create hundreds of playlists accessible during flights, according to the airline.

"Southwest connects our Customers to what is important in their lives, and in this case, it's music," said Kevin Krone, Southwest Airlines Chief Marketing Officer, in a release. "We continue to enhance our onboard offerings to remain current as our Customers' needs evolve, and with the addition of Beats Music on our entertainment portal, we're doing just that."

Utilizing "The Sentence" service on Beats Music, fliers can customize a playlist by answering four questions about their location, activity, surroundings, and musical preference.

Customers can stream a selection of Beats Music playlists through the Southwest entertainment portal by using their personal electronic devices onboard Southwest Airlines WiFi-enabled aircraft, according to the airline.

Southwest added that the service provided on the Southwest entertainment portal will be compatible with major mobile devices and operating systems, including iOS and Android, as well as most web browsers.

Southwest operates have 19 daily nonstop departures to nine cities from Detroit Metro Airport.
