ROSEVILLE (WWJ) — It’s a sign that is a common sight in the Detroit area this time of year: “Flu Shots. Walk in.”
One place you don’t normally see it — a bar.
The sign at Habanero Joe’s Bar and Grill in Roseville has been raising a lot of eyebrows. That so-called flu shot, according to bartender Sara Bryan, is not the actual flu vaccine, rather a shot of Tennessee whiskey, chilled, meant to ward off the winter weather.
“I think it helps on the marquee. All the people see that and drive by on Groesbeck Highway, you know, they want to come in and have a flu shot,” Bryan laughed.
Bryan said that about 20 people came in for the so-called flu shot by early evening on Monday.
“It was just something that we put on the marquee to have fun,” Bryan said.
