The idea for the airline to share love stories started after its founder, Sir Richard Branson, was bumped from a flight that was bringing him to meet a “beautiful lady,” who would become his wife.

“With romance in our DNA … we were feeling particularly amorous this year and asked our flyers to share some of their travel-related love tales with us,” Jaime Fraser, corporate communications program manager, wrote in an email.

Virgin Atlantic will begin flying from Metro to London Heathrow on June 1. Virgin is taking over the summer-only service Delta Air Lines currently operates and will be extending it to a year-round service, according to the company.
