With more than 25,000 likes on Wayne State University’s Facebook page and thousands of shares, this decorated mortar board from Thursday’s commencement at the university made the rounds on the Internet.

The hat featured the words “Game of Loans” and “Interest Is Coming” in glued-on gold glitter in the “Game of Thrones” font.

Graduates always pay their debts …

It brought on a dialogue on the Web about the cost of a college education and the struggle to repay the debt. If you’re not a fan of the HBO series “Game of Thrones,” the joke references how the characters are preoccupied by the fictional universe’s years-long brutal cold seasons. “Winter is coming” is often uttered.

The joke is all-too-real as college students can expect to accrue $30,000 in debt for a bachelors degree.
