Air National Guard To Conduct Exercises Over Southeast Michigan

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Residents in southeast Michigan may hear a rumble in the skies today as the Ohio Air National Guard conducts exercises in the region.

The 180th Fighter Wing announced on its Facebook page that it will be conducting over southeast Michigan, Toledo and Sandusky in northwest Ohio.

The post from the Toledo-based squadron stated residents may see and hear fighter jets in close proximity to a Civil Air Patrol aircraft and "should not be alarmed," according to the post.

Some of the 180th Fighter Wing's exercises have been conducted over metro Detroit recently.

In March, the sound of F-16 fighter jets could be heard throughout the area but could not be seen. The planes were obscured by the snow and clouds.
