ATF Busts Through Door Of East Side Detroit Home, One Of Several Raids In Trafficking Sweep

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities are raiding several homes in Detroit in search of drug traffickers and illegal firearms.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives started carrying out the operation Thursday morning in a neighborhood along 8 Mile Road just west of Ryan Road.

While WWJ's Mike Campbell was on the scene of a possible fire bombing nearby, ATF crews came down the street and swarmed a neighboring home before busting through the door and making entry. One person from inside that home was taken away in handcuffs.

Special Agent John Ortiz said the raid was one of several taking place in connection with a federal investigation into drug and weapons violations.

"This is just a series of federal search warrants that ATF is executing today," he said. "And for now, that's all I can tell you."
