Tornado Touches Down For 16 Minutes Up North
ROSE TWP. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado was to blame for knocking down trees and damaging homes in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula.
The weather service office in Gaylord says the EF-1 tornado packed winds of 110 mph and had a path Tuesday afternoon in Ogemaw County of about 9 miles. The tornado was on the ground for 16 minutes, mostly damaging trees.
A survey of the area was conducted on Wednesday, one day after storms moved through the state.
Damage was seen in Rose Township, about 150 miles northwest of Detroit, as well as other areas. No injuries were reported.
