MAYBEE, Mich. (WWJ) – Authorities in Monroe County are searching for a suspect after a man answered a knock at his front door and was stabbed.

It happened at around 4 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 7700 block of Short Street in the village of Maybee.

The stabber — described as a white male in his 30s or 40s, about 6 feet tall, with a muscular build — fled the scene. He’s wanted on a charge of felonious assault.

The 53-year-old victim, who suffered a single stab wound to his upper chest, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Although they’re not talking about a motive for the stabbing, Monroe County Sheriff’s officials say it doesn’t appear to have been a random act of violence. They believe victim was specifically targeted.
