DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are asking for the public's help in locating a 16-year-old girl who disappeared after she missed the bus home from school.

Police say Treasure Jackson was last seen around 6:45 a.m. Friday, leaving for school from her home in the 8200 block of E. Outer Drive, just east of Gratiot Avenue.

According to police, Treasure called her mother around 3:30 that afternoon, saying she missed the bus from East English Village Prep Academy. Her mother instructed her to walk home, about four and a half miles away, but Treasure never showed up.

The weekend came and went and family members found no sign of Treasure, who has never been missing before.

Treasure is described as a black female with a medium complexion, 5'7" tall and 250 lbs. with brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a navy blue shirt, black pants, black shoes and a brown leather jacket.

Anyone with information on Treasure's whereabouts is urged to contact police at 313-596-5940.
