Detroit Pistons Waive Martin, Thomas And Bachynski


AUBURN HILLS, Mich.
– The Detroit Pistons announced today that the club has requested waivers on forward Cartier Martin, guard/forward Adonis Thomas and center Jordan Bachynski.

Martin signed with the Pistons as a free agent on August 18, 2014. In 23 games with Detroit, he averaged 1.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 8.6 minutes per game. In 243 career NBA games (15 starts) with Charlotte, Golden State, Washington, Atlanta, Chicago and Detroit, Martin has averages of 5.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 13.8 minutes per game. The 6-foot-7, 220 pound forward played professionally in Turkey (2007-08), Italy (2009) and China (2011-12) and also played in the NBA Development League with the Iowa Energy (2008-09), (2009-10), (2012). Martin went undrafted in the 2007 NBA Draft out of Kansas State University.

Thomas was signed on July 23, 2015 after spending last season with the Grand Rapids Drive, the Pistons' NBA Development League affiliate. In one preseason game with the Pistons, he recorded two points and one assist in 10 minutes. Thomas spent two seasons in the D-League, where he averaged 18.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 85 games with the Grand Rapids Drive and the Springfield Armor. He's seen action in six career NBA games with Orlando and Philadelphia during the 2013-14 season and averaged 2.3 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists.

Bachynski was signed to the training camp roster on September 28. In two preseason games, he totaled six points and one rebound in six minutes. The 7-foot-2, 248-pound center split time last season between the Westchester Knicks of the NBA's Developmental League and Eskisehir Basket of the Turkish Basketball League. Bachynski played collegiately at Arizona State and went undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft.
