Boblo Boat Moved To Detroit For Continued Restoration

ECORSE, Mich. (AP) - A Detroit excursion boat that ferried passengers to the Boblo Island amusement park has been moved to Detroit as restoration work continues.

The Detroit Free Press reports the 105-year-old SS Ste. Claire was moved Wednesday from the Detroit suburb of Ecorse.

Ron Kattoo, who owns the boat, says work will continue at the new location. He says efforts are taking place to fix up the main deck.

The Ste. Claire ferried passengers to Boblo Island in the Detroit River along with the SS Columbia. The park closed in 1993.

The Columbia was moved this year from Toledo, Ohio, where it had been getting some repairs. The nonprofit SS Columbia Project has spent years working on a multi-million-dollar plan to return the boat to service in the Hudson River Valley.
