See The Detroit Zoo In A Whole New Light! 'Wild Lights' Runs Through End Of Year

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - The holiday season is in full swing, making it the perfect time to experience winter magic at the Detroit Zoo during its Wild Lights celebration.

Take in the lights and the sights as more than six million LED lights illuminate trees, buildings and more than 100 animal sculptures throughout the zoo. The event also features live entertainment, seasonal refreshments, arts and crafts, storytelling and ice carving.

Wild Lights takes place from 5:30 to 9 p.m.:
•November 28-29
•December 4-6, 11-13, 18-23, 26-31

Tickets are now on sale for $9 per person in advance, or $11 at the gate. Children under 2 are admitted free. Parking is $6 per car. Wild Lights is a rain/snow-or-shine event, and often sells out. Advance ticket purchase is recommended.

New this year -- Take the Plunge at Wild Lights

Soar down the Polar Plunge, a 22-foot-tall, 150-foot-long slide. Purchase single rides for $3 or an all-you-can-ride pass for $12 (same night only). Children ages 2 and older may ride with a responsible adult; children more than 36 inches tall may ride solo. Two adults may not ride together.
