Police Search For Yarmulke-Wearing Suspect In Bagel Store Hit-And-Run

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who seriously injured an elderly man outside of a bagel store in Southfield.

Investigators say 82-year-old Norman Prady was hospitalized for seven weeks with a serious head injury after the accident, which happened October 14 in the parking lot of New York Bagel on 12 Mile and Evergreen roads.

Prady, a Berkley resident, was walking in the parking lot when he was struck by a gold-colored Toyota Camry that promptly fled the scene.

The suspect driver is described as a white male with a medium complexion, approximately 18- to 25-years-old, wearing a yarmulke. The suspect's vehicle has a Mackinac Bridge-Sunrise license plate. According to police, a witness is confident that the license plate contained the letter "C."

Authorities have released a composite sketch of the suspect in hopes that someone will be able to identify him.

Anyone who can identify the suspect or who has any other information is urged to contact police at 248-796-5500.
