MACOMB TWP. (WWJ) – A 49-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a car while trying to cross M-59.

According to Macomb County Sheriff’s officials, the Macomb Township resident was struck Monday evening in the westbound Hall Road, east of Chateau Thierry Blvd., near Card Rd., in Macomb Township.

She was rushed to McLaren Macomb Hospital.

The 79-year old driver of the Chrysler 200 that struck the woman stopped at the scene, deputies said. Her car was impounded, but it was unclear if she would face charges.

The road was closed for several hours for an accident investigation, but has since reopened.
