Woman Charged With Robbing 2 Dearborn Heights Banks Implying She Had Bomb

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - A 35-year-old Detroit woman could end up spending the rest of her life behind bars after police say she robbed two banks in Dearborn Heights, threatening to detonate a bomb if she didn't get any cash.

Candace Glover-Carter was arraigned Friday in 20th District Court on multiple charges of bank robbery and armed robbery.

Police allege that Glover-Carter first robbed the Comerica Bank in the 4400 block of Telegraph on January 14. Around 3:40 p.m., police say she walked into the bank, said she had a bomb and demanded money from a teller. After getting about $4,000 in cash, she fled the scene.

Days later on January 19, police say Glover-Carter robbed another bank. This time she allegedly hit up the Dearborn Federal Savings Bank just after 10 in the morning. Police say her M.O. was the same, demanding money after saying she had a bomb and wasn't afraid to use it. As in the first instance, she made off with about $4,000 in cash.

If convicted as charged, Glover-Carter faces up to life in prison. She's due back in court for a probable cause hearing on Feb. 3, and a preliminary exam on Feb. 10.
