Crews To Deliver Bottled Water To Detroit Homes After Water Main Break

DETROIT (AP) - Bottled water will be delivered to some residents in a southwest Detroit neighborhood following a water main break that has flooded several streets.

City officials say Thursday that the 30-inch main broke about 10 p.m. Wednesday on Buchanan Street.

About 40 homes have been left without water.

Great Lakes Water Authority and Detroit Water and Sewerage Department crews have isolated the break which is expected to be repaired as early as Friday morning.

Officials say it could take several days before the repaired line is flushed and treated and the water is deemed safe for the public to use.

A water quality test will be done before service is restored.
