No Buyers For Hell, Michigan, Despite Fire Sale

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) There's a fire sale in Hell.
Well, at least there is one for Hell, Mich., which dropped its asking price nearly $100,000 to a new low of $900,000.
John Colone, Hell's unofficial mayor and a one man band of business ownership, revealed the price drop to the Livingston Daily.
There goes the neighborhood.
Screams Ice Cream and Diner, a wedding chapel, a souvenir shop and a miniature golf course are among's Colone's holdings on five acres of commercial property in the small hamlet near Pinckney, Mich., along with the licensing rights to the souvenirs and slogans associated with the town.
The Hell Hole bar is already leased to a local businessman, and the Dam Site Inn has new ownership.
Colone is having a hell of a time attracting a buyer for the rest, despite plenty of marketing ideas like "get married in hell," Hellbilly putt-putt golf tournaments and a Hellbilly Toss, where contestants toss toilet seats for prizes, plus music festivals, a hearse parade, and more. He sells items like "grumpier than hell" coffee mugs, devlish ducky bath toys and T-shirt slogans like "Hell is safer than Detroit."
There's also a kayak rental service for those who want to go through hell and high water.
Colone has dropped his asking price several times, from a high of $1.3 million a year ago. A kickstarter campaign for an arts group to buy it about a year ago also fell through.
"It's open to any offers," Colone told the Livingston Daily. "We're willing to work with anyone."
The good -- or possibly bad -- news for buyers: You'll own it for eternity.
