LASALLE TWP. (WWJ) – A 76-year-old man who died while fishing in a Monroe County creek was trying to remove a fish from the line when he fell into the water.
The Sheriff’s office said Raymond Pfund, of Monroe, was fishing off the Knabb Road bridge in LaSalle Township around 10 a.m. Wednesday when he fell into Otter Creek.
A Monroe Community Ambulance unit was close by and responded to the area. Paramedics located Pfund and removed him from the creek, but lifesaving measures were unsuccessful. Pfund was pronounced dead at the scene.
