The Snack Attack: Hostess Hypes Ghostbusters Movie With Key Lime Slime, White Fudge Marshmallow Twinkies [TASTE TEST]

If there's something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? NO ONE! You're gonna go to your pantry, grab a box of limited edition Ghostbusters-themed Twinkies, sit back, stuff your face and watch the show.

To celebrate the release of this summer's new Ghostbusters movie, Hostess transformed their Twinkies into two new flavors: Key Lime Slime and White Fudge Marshmallow.

Quite frankly, neither of these flavors really sound appetizing, but I surprisingly liked them both.

No matter how you feel about the movie re-boot, you should give these Ghostbutsters Twinkies a try.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of lime-flavored things and I had pretty low expectations for this Twinkie -- which is probably why I'm so surprised that it actually tastes good. These Slimer inspired treats are stuffed with so much green creme, you can see it through the golden cake, which is moist and sticky as all get-out. The lime flavor isn't overpowering -- it tastes more like a vanilla creme flavored with lime compared to a straight up lime creme, if that makes sense. And despite the neon green slime color, it's not that revolting to eat. All you need is a Hi-C Ecto Cooler to wash it down with. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Hostess were to introduce the key lime Twinkie to its permanent flavor lineup.

The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man wouldn't be able to contain himself! Or maybe he would -- isn't that kind of like cannibalism? Either way, if you like marshmallows, you are going to like these Twinkies. At first I thought the creme filling was marshmallow flavored, but no -- this Twinkie has a band of marshmallow along the entire top on the cake, with regular vanilla creme. Compared to the Key Lime Slime, these are A LOT sweeter and you can thank the white fudge coating for that -- it's a vanilla lover's dream. The marshmallow itself is actually a little chewy, but it tastes delicious. Have you ever eaten a Sno Ball? It seems to be that same kind of marshmallow. This Twinkie definitely lives up to its name but all-in-all, I found its vanilla-ness a little too overpowering.
